Okay, lets get started. Exterior painting can be a different thing to do. Not just the time but the effort and precision it takes. So you want to make sure it's all worth it by using a "tried and true" paint that will last.


When looking for a paint you want to look for a few things - durability, low VOCs, dry times, lasting color, weather resistance, climate suitability, surface suitability. As long as you are using 100% acrylic, they are basically going to be the same with slight variations.


Keep in mind, there are so many options out there but after 40+ years of experience, this is what we use and feel comfortable using.


1. Kelly-Moore Envy Exterior Paint




Envy is a premium exterior paint and designed with exceptional weathering, durability and application characteristics. This low sheen paint provides great coverage with excellent adhesion and block resistance.

2. Kelly-Moore AcryShield Exterior Paint



This paint offers a great lasting impression. Its self priming and durable which means less coats needed and you will still be protected from damage. Great for any project outdoors.

3. Sherwin-Williams SuperPaint Exterior Acrylic Latex


This paint is great for families who need a little more durability. Its protective and goes on beautifully. The smooth finish is like no other. Usually two coats will do it since the coverage is great.

4. Sherwin-Williams Duration Exterior Acrylic Latex


Sherwin-Williams Duration Exterior Acrylic Latex. This latex paint is long lasting and great for exterior painting.


It usually just requires one coat for repaints and two coats for new jobs. If you have rough exterior surfaces or trim, this is a great pick.

5. Benjamin Moore Aura Exterior Paint




This paint has been voted by many painters to be the top paint to use on exteriors. Aura is a thick paint which means amazing coverage. It can also be used on doors and windows.

6. Benjamin Moore Regal Select Exterior High Build Paint



This paint being brushes on can compare to a sprayed finish. It provides coverage and gives a smooth finish. Because this is a high build, it does require more time to cure. This is a great choice for painting hard to cover up exteriors.
